The Secret Intuition, Complete Darkness, and The End by Oscar Mendieta

THE SECRET INTUITION

I got lost in that bonfire of longing and poetry,
in that invocation that your song has,
the secret intuition that then decided,
that dawn was the one who would find us.

With the beautiful daring that the heart has
and the burning passion that consumed us there,
we were calm that burned as the new day was born,
with the tender agony of a sparrow’s song.

I was that gentle thief crossing your barrier,
looking for the way that you could be mine
a road that would be the flame of union,
making a sign in your isolated life.

I got lost in that bonfire of longing and poetry,
with the beautiful daring that the heart has,
I was that gentle thief crossing your barrier,
so that your soul would burn merging with mine.

COMPLETE DARKNESS

I don’t know why, if the light enters,
the men are very asleep,
poorly living their lives, their egos, suspenders,
young again, beautiful between smiles.

I don’t know why I have to sing
or vaguely spill words from my lips;
words from my eyes, I know,
words of my dreams lost in the snow.

From my dreams copying the colors of clouds,
from my dreams copying clouds over the pampas.

THE END

Mysterious substances emerge from the light.
Genetic matters work at night.

One morning death will dawn,
picking flowers,
rising through the sap and through the pawn
to kiss the man.

And time will fill,
the clocks, the clocks, the clocks
to see the miracle
of the man making a man.
