Be a Drop of Water by Michael Bloom Ford

An ember combusts and flies into the river.
Try as it Might, the ember is put out and washed away.

A boulder rolls from the mountain into the river.
It is still and buffeted by the river with Patience.

A sliver of silver pops up from the bed of the river.
Mutability carries it until it is round and sinks back into bed.

A branch from a willow tree splashes to float on the river.
Because it is Light, it goes far then is dammed.

A drop of water falls from the sky to the river.
It feels Acceptance as it becomes the river and again
as the river becomes the sea and again
as the sea becomes mist and again
as the mist becomes a cloud and again
as the cloud becomes a drop of water contentedly falling to the river.
