“On Being Replaced” by Kayley Thompson

Hot tears swell;

Car headlights

Telling stories

Of the stars

And how they fell,

Cascading down

Like tiny satellites.

Hands gripping,

All proof lost and

In darkness drown,

And drown I will

For I’ve lost and

I know I’ll just

Bleed here out

Until Night gets its fill.
