“Truth About Trees” by Meagan Miller

Pine trees whisper of one who is grace.

The oak spreads the news to others as

Maples marvel at their beauty and

    Poplars herald their demise.

Enter the willow, standing supreme.

Swaying gracefully in time with the wind.

Roots searching shallowly forward,

Not deep enough to prevent death.

Poplars herald the truth.
